"One of New York’s great gifts to Jazz music..."Tom Powers, Tom Powers Jazz House http://bit.ly/fd2ovZ
I'm Elli Fordyce, a jazz vocalist living in a retirement community in Millbrook, NY (a couple of hours North of New York City). So happy you stopped by!
Please note that the site is currently under reconstruction since HostBaby has switched us to Bandzoogle. Bear with me while I work through the conversion process, and enjoy.
Below is some wonderful stuff folks have seen fit to say about me which I'm utterly awed about and excited to share:
"Brings a lifetime of wisdom to lyrics and jazz-honed skills to make standards swing or glow at low flame." Rob Lester, Cabaret Scenes http://bit.ly/eEodOW
"Let’s face it; it’s hard to not be impressed with Elli Fordyce. This septuagenarian can best be described in the title of a song that does not appear on this album: The Best is Yet to Come." Curtis Davenport, Curt's Jazz Cafe http://bit.ly/ieOSOx
"Fordyce's band plays with a low and sultry swing as she sings of the many traps of love. It's Fordyce's delivery that makes the connection here." Mark Saleski, Jazz.com http://bit.ly/fvUX0b
"Elli Fordyce's Something Still Cool evokes an era when, if you shook a tree, several female jazz singers would fall out." Michael P. Gladstone, All About Jazz http://bit.ly/gWzv3
I am so grateful to the musicians and all the others who have made this journey so great. Our second CD, "Songs Spun of Gold," was accepted for consideration in 13 categories for 2009, resulting in garnering eight Grammy Pre-Noms; the CD was also nominated for Best Recording by MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs). Our first album, "Something Still Cool," was nominated by MAC for Best Jazz Recording of 2008. Visit the Music page to hear and read more.
If you'd like to ask about my music and acting pursuits, have a jazz-vocal or performance coaching session with me, learn about my life-coaching (note, the first session of either kind of coaching is always free), hear about my long-and-winding-road life (leading up to and now playing out as a "young" septuagenarian jazz vocalist/actor/coach), make suggestions about this website, or anything else, please email me at email@example.com.
Feel free to pass on anything you find here—and thanks for your support.
